Peerhood Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Peerhood ("Peerhood," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Peerhood mobile application, website, and other online offerings that link to or are otherwise subject to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

When you use Peerhood, we may collect:

B. Voice Messages and Transcription

When you use voice messaging (e.g., in direct messages, when learning about other users, when building your profile, or in anonymous question responses), we use your device's microphone and voice transcription services to record and transcribe your voice into text. The transcribed text is then sent as a message. Voice recordings may be processed on your device or by the transcription provider. You can revoke microphone and voice transcription permissions at any time in your device Settings.

C. Connected Social Account Data

If you choose to connect social accounts, we may collect limited data only with your permission via official APIs and login flows.

Instagram (via Meta APIs)

Instagram access is granted via Instagram Login or Facebook Login for Business, depending on available permissions.

TikTok

We do not access private messages, passwords, or data beyond the permissions you explicitly approve.

D. Contact Information

We access your device's contact list to help you invite friends to Peerhood. Here's how we handle your contact data:

E. Location Information

When you view meetup locations on a map, we request your approximate location (when the map is visible) so you can see your position as a blue dot and how far events are from you. Your location is shown only to you on the map—other users cannot see your position. We do not continuously track your location or share your device location with other users.

We also collect location information you provide in your profile (e.g., city and state) and when you add locations to meetups or events.

F. Identifiers and Automatically Collected Information

We may collect:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

We do not sell your personal data.

3. AI & Automated Processing

Peerhood uses artificial intelligence ("AI") and machine learning to power features such as building your profile, suggesting introductions, helping you connect with others, and recommending meetups.

Additionally, we may collect and process personal information that you provide when you use these AI-powered features. The personal information collected may include, but is not limited to, your profile information (name, interests, location, information you share about yourself), messages and questions you submit when learning about other users, connected social account content (e.g., captions, hashtags) that you authorize, and other content you provide for the purpose of using the Services.

Consent: We obtain your explicit permission before sending any personal information to AI or machine learning services. The first time you use an AI-powered feature, we will ask for your consent. You may decline; if you do, those features will not be available to you. If you have consented and wish to stop sharing data with AI services, contact us at legal@peerhood.co.

AI processing is used only to support product functionality and is not used for advertising, profiling, or resale of data.

4. Data Sharing

We may share personal information with service providers that assist us with the provision of the Services. This may include, but is not limited to, service providers that provide us with hosting services, customer service, AI or machine learning services, analytics, IT support, and related services. In addition, personal information and chat communications may be shared with service providers that help provide our chat features.

All service providers are required to protect user data with the same or equal protection as we provide and to use it only for authorized purposes. We do not sell your personal data.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of users.

5. Third-Party Services and Platforms

The Services may allow you to connect or interface with third-party platforms. If you connect a third-party account, we may collect personal information from that platform that you have made available via your privacy settings. Any personal information shared with a third-party platform will be subject to that platform's privacy policy. You may disconnect any connected account at any time through the respective platform's settings or within Peerhood. Disconnecting revokes our ability to retrieve new data from that platform.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how users interact with our Services. This may include device identifiers, app usage and interaction data, and similar technical information. The information generated by analytics is transmitted to and stored by the analytics provider and is subject to that provider's privacy policy. We use this data to improve the Services and understand how features are used. You can limit analytics collection by enabling "Ask App Not to Track" in your device Settings.

7. Your Privacy Choices

You may manage privacy settings, revoke permissions (contacts, location, notifications), or block other users through the Services or your device settings. When you block or hide a user, we store that preference to enforce your choices.

We may send you push notifications through our mobile application. You may opt out of receiving push notifications by changing the settings on your mobile device.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain user data only as long as necessary to provide the Services.

You may request deletion of your data by contacting legal@peerhood.co or through the in-app account deletion flow.

Upon request, your data will be permanently deleted unless retention is required by law.

9. International Transfers

All personal information processed by us may be transferred, processed, and stored anywhere in the world, including the United States or other countries, which may have data protection laws that are different from the laws where you live.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data. While no system is completely secure, we continuously work to protect information from unauthorized access.

11. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 18 (or other age as required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us in violation of applicable law, please contact us at legal@peerhood.co.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in our sole discretion. If we do, we will let you know by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last updated" date above. We may also send other communications. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
